Devilled Beef Stir Fry


400g beef fillet 

4 tbsp of coconut oil

1 bulb of garlic, roughly chopped                                                                                                                                   

2 fresh green chillies

(roughly chopped)                                                                       

4 red onions, roughly chopped                                                                                                                                 

8 green capsicums 

(or green peppers), roughly chopped                                                                                                                      

1 leek, roughly chopped

4 fresh tomatoes, diced                                                                    

½ tsp salt    

1 tsp pepper

2 level tsp chilli powder

2 tbsp tomato sauce                                                   

2 tbsp oyster sauce

2 tsp soya bean sauce                                               

a handful of fresh coriander                                                                                                              


juice of 1 lemon                                                                 

1 tsp soya bean sauce                                                

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper


Place the beef fillet in a bowl and add the lemon juice, soya bean sauce and salt and pepper. Mix together thoroughly by hand and leave to marinate for 15 minutes.

When the beef has marinated, add half the coconut oil to a wok or high-sided frying pan and place on a high heat until it is as hot as you dare. Add the beef and fry for a few minutes on either side or until medium rare. Remove the beef with a slotted spoon and allow to rest.

Place the pan back on a medium heat and add the remaining coconut oil. Once sizzling, add the garlic and fry for a minute, then add the chillies, onions, peppers and leek. Cook for 5 minutes, add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, chilli powder, tomato sauce and oyster sauce. 

Continue cooking on a medium heat for another 3 minutes, then slice the rested beef into 1cm strips and mix into the stir-fried vegetables. 

Season to taste and finish with a handful of coriander leaves, if using, then serve.
